Options, options, options...

Over the next few weeks, your TfL will be going through a powerpoint with you on your option choices.

The PATHWAYS EVENING is on THURSDAY 26 JANUARY

4.00pm- 5.30pm for Years 8 and 9
5.30pm -6.30pm for Year 10.

For learners in current Yr 9, your focus is on the number of passes you are predicted to gain this year. Those who are at risk of achieving 2 or less GCSE /equivalent qualifications be encouraged to select from the vocational pathways to maximise the opportunity to pass the Level 2 threshold by the end of the Key Stage.

For learners in current Yr 10 your focus first is on Maths and English. Those who are unlikely to pass Maths/English this year can only select from the bottom 2 pathways tables. Then we'll look at numbers of qualifications. If you are unlikely to achieve the level 2 threshold at the end of year 10 then you must be guided to the bottom table, where there are vocational options available.

I hope this is clear to all-please do not hesitate to ask for clarification if necessary.

Sports Day Kit and Guidlines

ALL competitors must be in school PE Kit – white PE top and Black bottoms or shorts. Failing that the pupils can wear house colours but MUST be plain colours – no branding slashed all over the top.

ALL competitors will have to compete in a house bib which will be with the house gazebos and/ or at the event location.

Non participants MUST come to school in Uniform.

I have heard rumours that pupils intend to dye hair etc. This is NOT allowed and pupils who do fail to follow the above guidelines will be dealt with accordingly.

When they arrive in school, they are to make their way to their HOUSE Wings – e.g. OLWEN – Maths. This will include Year 7.

Extended Work placement option

All Year 10s that have chosen Extended Work placements as an option next year for Year 11 – Will need to bring Miss Butcher a the letter from the employer confirming they have been accepted.

Year 10's were told as a condition of choosing the extended work experience option that they would need to find their own placements.

Miss Butcher needs confirmation and also a work experience form needs to be filled in.

If confirmation and a completed work experience form is not received then they may need to change their option choice.

A reminder that the Year 11 leavers' Ceremony will take place this Friday 10th June at 11.00 a.m, Please ensure that you wear full school uniform otherwise you will not be allowed entrance.

All afternoon exams will START at 1:30 leaving a very short opportunity for lunch.

Lunch will need to be picked up at break or at the start of lunch to ensure they get to the exam room on time.

For you to go on Work Experience, you will need to get a placement: Ask your folks, family, people you know and trust to see what can be arranged, because without a placement, you will stay in school for the W/E time, and will miss out on a valuable opportunity to gain experience!

PROM VENUE DECIDED!!!!!

The Prom committee have identified Peterstone Lakes Golf Club as the ideal venue for this years prom. Peterstone Lakes is set in beautiful countryside between the Marshfield and St. Brides areas of Newport and it is hoped that it will inspire the best Prom to date. The prom committee have done an excellent job raising money by selling cakes during the last half term and fund raising will continue with a non- uniform day later in this term
